Opinions on flights to Spain
Hi all. This is my first post on Flyer Talk! I'm a semi-newbie to the points/miles arena and still learning!
I am looking to fly JFK-BCN and then MAD-JFK non-stop. It seems my best options of price are American and Delta (which we frequently fly and are members of both of their programs - SM with Delta). We found some decent air prices; however, all flights are on a Boeing 767-300. I have read the negative reviews of these planes on several sites. I will be purchasing these tickets hoping to gain a few miles also to complete enough miles for 2 tickets on next flights to Europe. Any advice to alternatives to Spain in November? (Norwegian flights were not non-stop). Do I book center row with a seat open in middle to avoid the dreaded box under seats B&F? Any suggestions or thoughts are appreciated. Are the planes really that bad? (please let me know if I have posted in the incorrect forum.)

What negative reviews of the 767 have you read? I quite like them, particularly for the 2-3-2 layout in Y. Also, depending on what airline you fly and what fare class you purchase, you may not earn many or any miles. Most programs have gone to a form of spend-based mileage.

London - So glad to hear of someone who doesn't mind the 767. As far as negative reviews, to start with there is an article where the American CEO even states the planes are in poor condition and need to be retired. (I don't have enough posts yet to post URL).
But a quick google search yields many bad reviews of the plane. I don't know enough about planes know if this is just American and Delta or other carriers too. I will earn 7x miles from flying with Delta plus 2x miles on the purchase on my Delta Platinum Skymiles card.
I cannot find another choice to Spain non-stop from JFK, thus my post. Think I will just book with Delta (great price, 7x SkyMiles for SM, and exit row seating one-way). I guess, for the price, I can weather the 7-8 hours with my own entertainment and power bank for my phone. The main obstacle will be the box under seat F, but we are short and small and not in need of much legroom. I do like the 2-3-2 seating. (just came off A350 DTW-AMS and avoided the 3-4-3 with the 2 seats in exit). Any other options are appreciated. I am still trying to understand which airlines to search for specific destinations on a multi-city ticket.

7x miles for dollar spent with Delta plus 2x miles per dollar on the credit card? Like I said, I'm new to all this and just trying to figure it all out. Must have miscommunicated the "dollar spent" part. Am I correct about this calculation as a Delta Silver Medallion?

www.seatguru.com usually has info on the various planes. Not 100%, but pretty good.
