Been doing pts-miles since 2011.
Tightening of many rules noted.
Used to sign up & spend ~16X annually.
Now haven't signed up new cc almost 9 mos.
I see all rules as big chess game & I'm forever novice.
To the point that some pts-miles almost expired...
Can't keep up with all details & strategize properly.
MileValue offers free cc consultation -- I never tried.
Hoping they can help me.
Am aware in future, may have to do pts+cash+taxes+VAT...

After 7 years of doing this, you're not a novice. There are credit card forums on FT with lots of info on the latest rules and advice, well worth reading and keeping an eye on. Doctor of Credit has regularly updated credit card resources. AwardWallet is good to use to monitor for expiration, as can setting up calendar alerts on your phone/computer.
