AMEX & Chase transfer
I have 137,800 Chase Ultimate Rewards points from my Chase Sapphire Reserve Card. I also have 52,900 membership rewards points on my American Express Everyday Preferred. I am trying to figure out how to transfer both cards points to the same airline to purchase round trip tickets (one for myself and one for my girlfriend) for a trip in December from Little Rock, Arkansas to Vietnam.
I'm unsure if I will even be able to buy a ticket for my girlfriend if I transfer the points to an airline since we are not related and some airlines I have seen say that tickets can only be purchased with points for yourself or direct family members (spouse, kids, etc.). Any help would be appreciated! |
First, you should find award availability for two people on dates that will work for you. With that mix of points, you'll probably need to focus on SkyTeam airlines (create an account and search on airfrance.us before transferring anything) or Star Alliance (search on united.com without needing to create an account). If you find flights that will work on SkyTeam, you can transfer points from both accounts to your new Air France account and book their. It should be 160,000 miles total for the two of you. If you find availability on Star Alliance, transfer 120,000 miles from Chase to United and book one round trip ticket and one one-way with United. Then transfer 45,000 miles from Amex to Aeroplan (Air Canada) to book the other one-way. You'll have to create an account there too. United and Air Canada should have access to the same space so you can mix and match. You shouldn't have a problem booking a ticket for your girlfriend with any of those programs.

Thank you! I will look into those programs.
