JFK to FCO to Brindisi
Trying to decide how to get to Brindisi from JFK.
1. We can choose ITA airways for both legs with connection times at FCO of either 2 hrs. 20 minutes (with early flight) or 5 hours (with a later flight). There are only 2 flights daily to Brindisi. Which is the safer choice as we will need to go through immigration (and only have carry-on luggage)? If we don't make the connecting early flight does ITA put you on the later flight? (we are 4 adults)
2. We can choose another carrier, Delta or AA, for the JFK to FCO flight and then choose ITA for the FCO to BDS flight. But the question still remains: Is 2 hours 20 minutes enough time to go through immigration and then go to Terminal 1 for the next flight?
3. After immigration do we have to go through security again when we go to our Brindisi flight in Terminal 1? Or is there a "transist" line/area for people who have not left the airport that moves them through quicker to the next flight? This is our first time connecting to another flight.
We would consider taking a train to Brindisi but travel time from FCO is 6 hours 40 minutes. Flying is 1 hour 39 minutes if we make the flight!
Thank you.
