NYC to Vancouver - Seattle to NYC

Hellooo,

Super new to all the points, mile clubs and travelling in general.

I was looking to book NYC to Vancouver 11/6 after the NYC Marathon (yikes) and Seattle to NYC on 11/13.

The Jet Blue flight from Seattle to NYC went up about 100 bucks to 242. Think it's worth waiting it out or should I just grab it at this cost?

I also have a bunch of Chase Sapphire points and am not sure if it's worth using those to buy the Jet Blue ticket or just pay full retail.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

If your main concern is price, consider flying NYC-SEA-NYC and taking the bus from SEA to Vancouver.

Are you able to attain BA Avios points? Could fly it for 25k direct on CX.

I probably could. I have 200,000 chase sapphire preferred points. Is it worth using those to transfer to miles?

With 200K Chase points I'd consider transferring 40K to Singapore Airlines and using them for a round trip in business class (from Newark) using Air Canada's 787s with state-of-the-art lie-flat beds. On the return portion you could ticket SEA-xYVR-EWR using Air Canada's puddle jumper from SEA to YVR at no additional mileage cost. That's terrific value for miles, way better than redeeming them for coach tickets.

Awesome info everyone.

The flight went down to $150 and I bought it without using points.

Gardyloo - I def need to figure out how to fly bus with the points!

Thinking Iceland for NYE- any suggestions? :)

Business class to Iceland is tough to get with miles, and even if you could it's hardly worthwhile considering it's such a short flight from the US. Unless you want to go to Europe too and route through Europe to get to Iceland. Delta flies JFK-KEF seasonally (I don't think they do in Dec), bookable with Korean miles (a Chase partner). Icelandair flies from a handful of US cities to KEF, but no Chase partner can book Icelandair awards.

Look into just paying cash to fly on Wowair (they fly out of BOS and BWI). Icelandair serves NYC if you prefer though they are usually pricier.
