San to nrt
Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but I couldn't figure out how to categorize it. I fly SAN NRT often, and I use JAL because it is the only direct flight. But I truly do not care for the airline. I was wondering if there are, or are in the works, any alternatives to JAL. I just find it extremely difficult to deal with JAL. Everything from a website that I find incomprehensible to procedures which make no sense to entertainment boxes in economy under the seats which make stowing a backpack impossible. Please, is there an alternative for this route? Maybe AA (what a beautiful easy website they have, and easy procedures too)? And I don't really understand why JAL has been the only direct flight thus far. Something to do with the size of the planes and the
size of Lindbergh Field maybe. If someone could enlighten me, I'd appreciate it. |

JL's SAN service is fairly new. Before that, there were no nonstops between NRT and SAN. I'd be surprised if there were enough demand to support a second nonstop in that market. Your only alternative to the JL nonstop would be to connect somewhere (like LAX/SFO/HNL). |
I was afraid of that. Thanks for the input.

In economy, you're not going to have the option to get precious about things like 'procedures' and ife boxes under seats. Be happy that you're on a direct flight and not on something awful like UA.

There are several airlines which have sensible procedures
...excellent service for economy passengers. And the staff are helpful. AA is one. JL is not. Are you British, by chance? |
