Help with award flight from NCE to LAX

What is the best option for NCE to LAX? I do not want to redeem on BA due to the fuel surcharge. I also do not want to fly through London because of the airport tax and fee.

I have miles in AA, BA, UA SPG, Chase and Amex points which I can transfer. I wan to fly back on May 15. I already redeem AA miles on LAX-Paris on Tahiti Nui.

I just have a hard time find award flight back to LAX.

Thank you for your help.

If there is nothing you like offered at aa.com and united.com, you can:

1. call AA and ask about award availability on IB (some surcharges will apply); or

2. check availability out of PAR, and take the train there if you find something better.

The UK APD is only for departures. Not for transits or arrivals

There are plenty of saver options available on UA a few days before and after 5/15, just not ON 5/15 at the moment. It is anybody's guess whether any will open up in the future.

The best experience would be to take the DL D1 service between LAX and JFK and the DL nonstop between JFK and NCE, also in D1. IIRC the latter route is seasonal; the OP doesn't give outbound dates but mentions May 15 for the return.

The OP writes that he has already booked TN LAX-CDG for the outbound.

OK then, for the return DL D1 NCE-JFK connecting to DL D1 JFK-LAX if NCE-JFK operates on the desired date.

Doesn't DL impose hefty surcharges for one-way awards that originate in Europe?

Yes, but it would still be the best flight experience. DL is also likely to demand a lot of miles for the NCE-JFK flight as this is a very high yield route, although OP seems to be traveling during shoulder season.

Well, the OP seems to be very cost conscious. See Post #1.

The OP also specifies "best option" without defining what "best" means. I answered in terms of best flight experience.

It was surprise to see that AA $320 for Tax and fee for flight from NCE to LAX. That's why I am looking for the cheaper option. I will keep checking on UA because the fee seem to be much cheaper (between $75-$150) I saw some date open up. Maybe May 15 will open up later.

I will also keep checking on the different connection.

Thank you for all your help.

This could be difficult if you must fly on May 15 exactly, with no flexibility.
