What does HIP check mean?
Seen it referenced here and there in relation to ticketing rules.
I realize it's "higher intermediate point" but that's still quite cryptic. Anyone care to clarify? |
Have a look to this thread:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/air-c...pm-travel.html It mostly happens if you make a stopover. You can get a fare LOS-ZRH-NYC for $1500 (without stopovers). Let's say you want to do a stopover in ZRH, the fare allows that but HIP will apply. Then it has to be checked if the legs LOS-ZRH ($1100) and ZRH-NYC ($2000) were more expensive than the fare LOS-NYC. In this case the $1500 fare LOS-NYC would be up-fared to the $2000 ZRH-NYC, as this is the most expensive calculated part on your ticket. (used fares above were invented for this explanation) |
Thanks!
