Questions on point redemption from multiple credit cards

Hi!

I'm hoping to book a direct international flight on Qatar Airlines. I have points with American Airlines (57,678), AMEX Starwood Preferred Guest (43,714), and Capital One Venture (36,217). What is the best way for me to redeem and combine these points in order to book my flight on Qatar Airlines?

Thanks!
DZ

Welcome to FT!

If you can find award seats on the QR flights you want, call AA and have those award seats put on hold. Then, transfer SPG points as needed to increase your AAdvantage miles to the necessary number of miles.

What route do you want to fly, and in what class of service?

I want to fly SFO to DXB. Economy class.

Just one way?

Nope, roundtrip.

Then you'll need 90,000 AA miles for the roundtrip. Note that 20,000 SPG points convert to 25,000 AA miles. Keep that in mind in figuring out how many SPG points to convert.

Also, if you plan to travel between October 15 and May 15, you can get the roundtrip down to 80,000 AA miles by connecting -- or stopping over -- in Europe in both directions.

You'll need to call AA to book award travel on QR; it cannot be done at aa.com.

Great advice, thanks!
