Help with multicity?
I need help getting from IAH departing on September 18, to DYU, for work. I want to go to Kuala Lumpur from DYU for my layover instead of what's usually Dubai, because I wanted to do something for the recent victims of MH flights. I'm paying for this leg of the flight myself, so I need the most efficient $ leg there. Then, I need to get back home to IAH. I was hoping for a 12-24 hour layover in Kuala Lumpur, then home to IAH. or... everyone else is leaving the 25th of sept from DYU to IAH. If I can delay my flight home on the 25th from DYU, and just get the leg to KL and back to DYU, maybe that would be best! HELP PLEASE!

As this is not a trip report I shall move it on over to the Information Desk.

Welcome to FT!
Do I understand correctly that you would like to fly something like this itinerary: IAH-DYU 18 Sep DYU-KUL 25 Sep KUL-IAH 26/27 Sep All possibly with stops? This is going to be extremely expensive and I suspect the cheapest way to do it is to buy a RTW (Round the World) ticket, either with Star Alliance (probably best) or OneWorld. I expect you would pay ca $5,000. |
Update...I just did a dummy booking for you, and the total comes to $3,012 with all taxes. I think this is pretty much the cheapest you are going to get.

On reflection, that routing has you in IST for a couple of days, as the DYU flights are not daily. When do you actually need to be there?

Cheers. We try to be helpful around here! ;)
|
Agreed. Very thoughtful and very helpful.
One further thought: Would any of these flights on Turkish Airlines qualify for miles on United? |
You'd have to check, but I believe H V S T are all earning classes.
|
You are awesome!!!!!!!!! ❤️ I can't thank you enough. I'm gonna look into this one!
|
Look closely, because you're stuck in IST for a few days. If you give me the dates you need to be in DYU I can build you a better itinerary.

If you want to live dangerously and go two different tickets plus airport change, Hipmunk says open jaw this:
Thurs, Sept. 18 IAH-DME on Singapore Air Singapore (SQ) 61 Marketed by Transaero (UN) 7061 Layover in Moscow for 9 hours and get to the next airport- VKO-DYU UTair (UT) 801 in Coach on a UTair 321 Sat September 27- KUL-DXB Emirates (EK) 347 in Coach on a Boeing 777-300 3-Class 10 hour layover in Dubai DXB-IAH Emirates (EK) 211 in Coach on a Boeing 777-300 3-Class for $1708 on Flight Hub ($1713 CheapoAir) Then a one way ticket depart Thursday, Sept 25 DYU-SVX Ural (U6) 2954 in Coach on a Ural 320 10 hour layover in SVX SVX-DUB Flydubai (FZ) 902 in Coach on a Flydubai 73H DXB-KUL- Emirates (EK) 346 in Coach on a Boeing 777-300 3-Class for $823 on Vayarama Total $2531 This gets you into KUL at 3:05 on Friday with your KUL outbound at 7:30pm on Saturday, which is hopefully long enough for your needs. The choke point seems to be getting you out of DYU and pointed correctly eastward, with longer layovers likely no matter how much you pay. |

Istanbul is not a bad place to be stuck. I would actually welcome a stopover there.
