Please explain you what you mean and what you're interested in, and what country you're based in.

Hilton HHonors can get to mid-tier (free breakfast and free internet) simply by getting one of the annual-fee HHonors credit cards (the Surpass from Amex for $75/year or the Reserve from Citi for $95/year). (But I believe you have to based in the USA to qualify for either of these.)

IHG Club (formerly known as Priority Club) can get to top tier (but not much in the way of dependable benefits there) with a credit card from Chase (free first year, $49/year with annual free night certificate offset in subsequent years). (But again this is probably for people based in the USA only.)

Best Western will match your status in another chain, but it's another program where even the top tier has not much in the way of dependable benefits.

So as you can see, the easier it is to get a high tier in a hotel program, generally the less its worth in what it actually gives you.

And the means to get to a hotel tier vary depending on what country you're based in.

That's why it don't think the question as you posed it is clear enough, because you have to explain why you want a status tier, not just that you want it, since the meaning of status tiers (even ones that go by the same name) varies so much from one hotel program to the next.

... Btw, many hotels that used to have an "instant status trial" offer have replaced that with a "challenge", where you have to stay a particular number of times first and only then do you get the status. (That's because they got tired of people signing up for the "trial" just to get status free on a paritcular stay, even then never staying again.)

The regular Amex Plat (US) gives SPG gold as a benefit, along with many other benefits. Fee is US$450/year.

But neither Hyatt Platinum nor SPG Gold give you free breakfast (just free internet, and even that only as a welcome choice in the case of SPG Gold), the way the two Hilton HHonors cards I mentioned above do.

(Of course, like I said before, until the OP comes back and explains more, it's not clear which benefits of status tiers the OP is interested in.)

For more completeness: There's also a Marriott card that gives you Silver status, but Marriott Silver status is pretty useless. There's also a Club Carlson card that give you some status (I forget what level), but again not as good a level as the HHonors Gold (that Citi Reserve and Amex Surpass cards give you). There's a Choice card that gives you first-level (Gold) status, but aside from a slightly longer booking window for reward stays (Chioce has a limit on how far ahead you can reward stays that expands with status tiers), there's not much in the way of benefits.

So in most programs its possible to get to some status tier level by holding a credit card, but what benefits you get at that status tier level varies tremendously from one hotel program to the next.

AAA gives some preferred SPG status (I'm not sure exactly what it's called) which is almost as good as Gold.

AFAIK AmEx Centurion still gives SPG PlatMinus.

Please note: Those almost-Gold statuses at SPG aren't all the same. The Preferred Plus status that comes from AAA does not include internet access, the Crossover Awards status that comes from Delta does.
