Business Class Seats.... ANA or EVA?

Trying to determine which airline to go with when flying from HKG-YVR

ANA or EVA?

Both have business class but it seems ANA is not 180 lie flat?

Can someone who has experience with both please chime in?

Which is better and why?

Thanks. I am planning to redeem using Aeroplan miles.

ANA is 180 degree lie flat if you can get the 777

Eva is 180 degree lie flat on 777-300ER

Eva has Dom in J

Probably have better luck getting award seats on EVA.

So only the 777's. The older 747's are not I am assuming...

Correct. Only the EVA 777's have the 180 degree lie flat 1-2-1 Royal Laurel product. 747 is 2-2-2 (2x2 in the nose) angled flat seat. Almost 20 in less seat pitch than the 777.

Not all NH 777's are lie-flat. The 773's are, the 772's aren't (unless something's magically changed in the past couple of months).

Both are basically among the best seats out there, although NH has great food and I find the seats to be the most comfortable out there (not necessarily the most spacious).

You'd find better BR availability in J/Royal Laurel as it has tons of west coast flights (multiple per day)
so your best bets are YVR-SFO/LAX-TPE-HKG
Plus, with Aeroplan reward, you pay no YQ on BR, while you pay hundreds on ANA

*Royal Laurel Class service is now available on all flights from Taipei to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Paris, Amsterdam and London.

Sorry for the ignorant newbie question... but what is 'YQ on BR?'

I am also assuming NH is EVA air?

NH = ANA. EVA's code is BR.

YQ is a carrier-imposed fuel surcharge.

My mistake was looking at seat guru which is almost always wrong. Ive only flown the 777's in First so not complely familiar with business, well other than the 767.

I am not sure about business class, but I did just fly both of those airlines on economy and there is no comparison. ANA service is top class while EVA felt closer to flying domestic.
