Non-US based tactics
 

Hi all,

I fly infrequently, compared to almost everyone on this forum - generally just once a year. But, I live down the bottom end of Africa, so every trip is a long-distance one! I fly economy, because business is 4 or 5 times the price, and just isn't practical. Recently, though, I've been developing motion sickness and a bit of claustrophobia, and I think that travelling in business would help tremendously (at the moment I really don't want to fly, even though I love travelling).

We don't really get miles on credit cards or any of the other strategies that the US has, so building up miles or loyalty is pretty difficult.

Are there any non-US-specific tips or tricks, short-term or long-term, that could help me build up status/miles, or otherwise get better prices for business class travel?
