Question about Schengen
I've discovered the meetup Wikis and love the idea of sharing my lounge access from my MileagePlus Club card. I fly Lufthansa often and would share my access, but I don't quite understand the Lufthansa meet-up wiki. I know about the Schengen treaty, but why are people identifying Schengen or non-Schengen with their lounge availability?
I'm sure it's been asked a million times. Thanks in advance. |
Probably to do with passports-visas
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_po...European_Union http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Agreement http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Area |
In the Schengen area, international airport are divided into two parts: Schengen and non-Schengen. For some airports, those are two different terminals. All flights within the area will depart and arrive into the Schengen part of the airport, where there would be no passport control for passengers. A Schengen flight is like a domestic flight.
Non-Schengen part of an airport have a passport control point at its entrance and exit. Thus typically, european airlines have two lounges in an airport: one in the Schengen area and one in the non-Schengen area. I guess people on the Wiki points out to which lounge they can guest people. |
Thanks guys. I really look forward to using my mileageplus club card to meet new people at the lounge door!
