AAdvantage vs Delta Skymiles JFK to LHR/LCY
Hi all, first post here on FT
I am EXP on AA and will fly enough in 2014 to qualify for either EXP on AA or DIA on DL but not both, so debating whether to switch to Delta Skymiles
Live in CT so home airports are HPN/LGA/JFK (and EWR if necessary)
I fly JFK to LHR/LCY (DL does not fly to LCY but BA does) 8-10x a year and take both the redeye Sunday night and Sunday day flights
I try to take the AA 777-300er when possible both ways and like that plane in J class
Quality of F lounges in JFK and LHR are important to me, as well as overall flight experience for F and J for sleeping as well as entertainment on the plane
Additional considerations: we are heavy SPG users so the DL/SPG partnering seems attractive; typically fly from NYC to OGG/Asia/Europe for family vacations annually so the 8 SWU are well spent; can switch to a credit card that can maximize miles and qualification if high spend is needed; typical domestic flights are to PBI and SLC
Should I consider switching to DL Skymiles for DIA or stick with AA EXP? How are the DL JFK and LHR F lounges and the quality of flights for DL F and J class from JFK-LHR?
Thanks in advance

Interesting question as I've been mulling if I should consider switching to AA after the merger since there will be more AA options from my home city IAD/DCA. Currently platinum for DL and no status for AA. I travel to Europe about 4-6x year and bunch if domestic. DL is so devalued right now which is why I'm considering the switch.

Confused. AA seems to be working nicely for you, so why are you considering switching? It is just for the SPG/DL partnering? Direct flights to SLC?

additionally 200% MQM for F and J class and 25k MQM for $50k spend on AMEX Skymiles Plat seems compelling for progress towards lifetime status or simply maintaining DIA status for years where less biz travel is needed
it might make sense to switch if DL matches for DIA and there is not a big difference in quality in TATL flights and F lounges(?)

Welcome to the forum
Most consider AA a better FFP than DL with its sky pescos. Frpm post on FT more are moving to AA from DL, that the other way

Sorry for bumping up the old thread, but I find it particularly useful.
1) As of mid 2016, after AA devaluation, would AA still be better than DL if based in NY/CT?
2) If one were to change the program, the best time to do that would be Jan 1st, right?
