India / Himalayas advice please

So here's where I am at the moment .....

I am planning a trip sometime late(ish) next year, possibly Sept / Oct, to India as a 40th b'day  treat to myself.

I have airmiles with AA that I want to use for a Bus Class BA award to India. I would then like to visit the Himalayas from there.

My initial thoughts were to visit Shimla and stay at Wildflower Hall after flying into Delhi.

I will likely have 4-5 days in total, and want to make the most of a trip to India & himalayas, without travelling every day - I would like a bit of rest too :)

Any thoughts or suggestions on this or alternative destinations, particularly in the Himalayas?

TIA !

Simla is Ok as Himalaya goes, but it will hardly give you a taste of what Himalaya is. Try going to Manali, and beyond, weather permitting, or to Laddakh. Manali can be done in 4-5 days. The drive to Manali, though rough, will take you some spectacular moments. If the roads are open, even Gangotri is doable. A flight to fro Laddakh is also doable in 4-5 days.

I agree. Wildflower Hall is nice, but not the Himalayas. This time of year is getting cold in Leh, but still nice. You can also fly to Kullu and spend a couple of days in Manali.
