Flight to Maldives

I feel like such a newbie, but how I do get to Maldives from India without having to leave extremely early in the morning and spending 11hrs flying time...it does not matter which airport out of India....BOM/BLR/MAA are all accessible....

Most of the flights leave way early in the morning and have long durations...Is there not a direct flight from BOM/BLR/MAA -- MLE ???

IC 963 TRV MLE daily 1200 except Fridays at 1020
IC 965 BLR MLE daily x25 1030

Try S2 out of TRV

Sahara (S2) has convenient mid day flights from/to TRV. S2-149 leaves at 12:50 arriving at Maldives at 13:30 and S2-150 departs Maldives at 14:15 arriving at TRV at 15:55. In addition you get AA (non-qualifying) miles.

You can use 20K AA miles for domestic and 35K AA miles for executive class travel on S2. I don't know how many AA miles are required for travel to Maldives.

Looks like S2 has withdrawn TRV-MLE flights w.e.f May 30th. Saw this news bit in another forum. Don't have an official link.

IC (soon to be AI) has a decent J on mainline.

I am not very fond of any class in IC. baggage handling, check-in are some of the worst of any airline in India. Considering there are not many options from India, you don't have a choice.

If you have the option, consider taking flights from CMB. Lot many more options, excellent airport, cheap connections to many parts of the world.

Just be careful of the rebels.

Been through CMB in transit atleast 15 times in last few years. Even ventured into down town 3-4 times. never experienced any thing adverse (other than the fact that city center is barricaded and all cars are checked at various check points). Only once had to go through an "experience".

Compared to Washington DC down town, CMB is any time safer.

the CMB flights are at horrible times....at least the AI flight is at a decent time....and nonstop from BLR-MLE....whereas I have to fly BOM-CMB-MLE....and leave in the middle of the night....

I was going to do this at first, but have decided to do it thru AI....plus I have family in BLR so I can stay there one night and then go from there....
