Usually my direct flights from the US land in India around the same time as one or two flights from the Gulf. The customs officials usually tend to focus on the Gulf flights and don't bother US passengers.

Everything is almost the same as the other major international airports in India. Hand baggage and Check-in luggage are both scanned before you are allowed to exit.

There will be a special eye on the Gulf flights Compared to US flights.
