AA - SEA to BLR starting 25 Oct

Well somebody has read the post on FT about making SEA a hub for flights to India.

AA has just announced flights from SEA to BLR on the their 789s starting 25th October. Very interesting route for techies going to Boeing or Microsoft offices and the like apart from the regular west coast traffic I guess.

I guess they feel that BLR would have adequate originating traffic and they donít have to go to BOM or DEL.

They are going head to head with DL/KL, LH/UA, EK and BA which are all around 21-22h. 16h20min in AA coach will be gruelling for the people in the back...

With fights breaking out on a daily basis on shorter 2-3 hour routes within the US on these airlines... we can expect more epic battle royals on a 16-17 hour flight.

Is there really sufficient demand for this route, let alone a daily route?

Time will tell. I guess AA is trying to start with a comptitive advantage with nonstop from BLR to the west coast instead of the typical DEL/BOM - east coast that others do.

BLR already has a few direct flights to EU + potentially the tech crowd demand could make it work for them.

They do need an Indian partner though to herd up everyone in South India to BLR.

I am betting that this AA flight wonít be around in 2020; and not even in Q1 2021.
