Dinner in Mumbai during BOM layover?

I'm arriving on a Saturday into BOM at 710 PM and will depart about six hours later at 130 AM. Is it possible or advisable to leave the airport for a nice dinner? Flying in on Etihad and departing on Swiss both in business class if that makes a difference.

It is possible, but don't go upstairs to Swiss to checkin, then you are not allowed to leave. Just walk out of the terminal on arrival from AUH and be back in time for Swiss checkin limits. You have to collect your boarding pass from the checkin desk, online printed boarding passes are not allowed.

Getting stuck in traffic can be very stressful. Not the point of leaving the airport. I'd opt for the closest 5 star airport hotel. Maybe one that can send you a car or shuttle.

I completely agree with the "it's possible, but traffic in Mumbai can be crazy" sentiment. Quite a few Europe-bound flights leave around 1-2am, so security can be a bit crazy. I usually get to BOM 2 to 2 1/2 hours before departure for a 2am flight, but YMMV.

I'm not sure how many international flights arrive at 7pm, but immigration has the possibility of taking quite a while. I'd pick a restaurant or hotel close to the airport. But I would highly recommend not going south of Bandra (especially through Dadar) because of the traffic risk.

I was under the impression that BOM has a separate Immigration/Customs line for Business/First pax on the way out as well as going in. Is this accurate?
