TWOV Question

Hello,

A brief background:
I am going to be in SE Asia for about a week (original trip was supposed to be 17 days) and rather than paying the exorbitant change fee quoted by Expedia, I thought it much better to buy a one-way ticket back to my point of origin. After a lot of searching and putting various flight combos together, the cheapest options all seem to run through India.

The first option: SpiceJet: BKK-DXB via MAA (3.5hr stopover) and IXM (8hr stopover)

Option two: Air Asia: KUL-KOC (5:40 stopover) Air India Express KOC-DXB (sold as one booking using an OTA)

Now, would I be able to TWOV in either case or am I better off just going with a more expensive option that skips India?

I don't have time to get a transit visa as it would take at least three months in my case (UK-PAK dual citizen).

I also do not plan on having any checked-in bags.

Thank you in advance!

Well I got the following useless reply from SpiceJet, so I would PLEASE appreciate someone with knowledge on this to respond ASAP.

You wouldn't need a transit visa if all of the below conditions are satisfied:

1) Transit time less than 24 hours as determined by scheduled arrival and departure times; With confirmed plane tickets to a third country;
2) Staying in the specific Transit Area (means no clearing immigration, no re-checking your luggage).

As far as I understand, your option 1 is BKK-MAA-IXM-DXB. If so, this is impossible as MAA-IXM is a domestic flight and you must clear immigration and enter India at MAA.

Hence, option 2 is the most likely solution, if and only if both sectors are on a single ticket. You having no checked bags simplifies the situation somewhat.

i believe the op meant that he has the option of transiting either via maa or ixm....if this is the case then this is possible without a visa (provided the op is on a single ticket)....

Indeed, if so :)

Actually the 1st option has transits in both cities so as per deovrat, that's out of the question. Sorry for not being clear.

I guess option two it is!

Thanks for chiming in everyone.

Option 2 will only work without luggage of course.
