Which web site did you use? the one below? The one below seems to allow only a 30 day visa.

I used that website. Similar turn-around time for business e-visa (~24 hours). Easy peasy.

India eVisa application has 20 country limit on Countries Visited in Last 10 Years

I am applying for a tourist eVisa and am having a very flyertalk problem. It asks for all countries visited in the last 10 years. You can't directly type into the form, you have to select countries. I've visited over 45. I spent way too long adding each of them, only to get an error that "Maximum 20 countries can be selected."

Even if I could cut out some of the EU/Schengen countries where I have no passport stamp or official record of entry, that still doesn't take it down to 20. Even then, I can't bring myself to put just 20 countries down and the click the box that says "I [name] hereby declare that the information furnished above is correct to the best of my knowledge and belief. in case the information is found false at any stage, I am liable for legal action/deportation/blacklisting or any other action as deemed fit by the Government of India."

Then go and apply for a 'normal' visa at the next mission . Seriously, I would just pick one EU country and be done with it.

I came across a similar problem when applying for my UK visa. There is a max number of countries you can select & I couldn't add all of them. So to the best of my knowledge I just added the names of all the countries I have been to most recently. Visa came through without a problem.

I've had this"issue" for both Russian and Indian tourist visas. It's a non-issue; just list however many you can.

I know this thread is about evisa.

but has anyone applied for the regular paper visa ever since they delegate all the visa issuance work to the VFS agencies?

specifically looking for feedback (good or bad) from someone who has dealt with the VFS San Francisco office (228 Grant Ave).

- is applying 2-3 mo in advance too early?

- how long does it take to process the visa and have the passport return to you? is it within the 15 business days stated?

- was it more effective to attend in person to drop off materials or no difference from doing everything by post?

VFS office is virtually unreachable unless you pay $$ for phone calls.

if no replies, I will create new thread for visibility

My cousin applied for a visa at the San Francisco office earlier this year. He said it took 6 weeks to get the visa. He dropped everything off by post.

Thanks a lot, very helpful

What kind of visa did he apply, and do you know how far in advance of the flight departure date he send in his materials?

I'm pretty sure he applied for a regular tourist visa. He told me he applied at the beginning of the year & visited India last month. So there was a good 4-5 month gap between his application & visit.

Do I understand correctly that the visa application asks you to list all the citizenships you have? I am not happy with such question.

The 2008 Mumbai attacks were scouted by US citizens who had Pakistani origin: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Mumbai_attacks

So the Indian authorities are very much interested to find out if you have any South Asian ancestry. If they see such history, the evisa is likely to be rejected and you will be asked to apply for a regular visa.

India is not alone in this process, the US also asks you quite intrusive questions about your past, including any other/past citizenships.

I'm pretty sure visa applications for almost all countries will ask you to list the countries where you have citizenship.

it seems the sort of question you might expect in the application for a consular visa, particularly from India - a country twitchy about the nationality, antecedents and profession of its visitors.

I, too, might be unhappy if I thought my citizenship might inhibit the issue of a visa.

But otherwise I wouldn't give a toss.
