VISA for turnaournd transit in BOM

Bought three(3) of the IAD-BOM BF tickets for $2400 in March--same day turns; arrive in BOM on the evening flight and turn around and fly back to hours later. Do I need a VISA for transit? (did a search for about 20 minutes and couldn't seem to find)

I would not risk it. If you are talking about flying UA IAD-EWR-BOM, they will check to make sure everyone has a valid Indian visa before allowing you to board in EWR. No visa, no boarding.

You are not in transit if you are arriving and departing to the same country. Therefore you will require a visa.
