Yeah probably the best bet. While you have enough time, it’s too early to check into the city hotels. As long as you’re ok with their rates (they’re on the higher side) it’s the most convenient thing to do. And you could use the morning to explore some parts of Mumbai.

I don't think it exists anymore

I have a longish layover, International to International transfer. Would consider using the Transit Hotel Niranta. Has anyone stayed there without having to go land side (which I don't consider).
On the hotel web site, it did have a clickable link that said I to I transfer Wing. But when proceed to try to book, it warns that I must have e-visa!

Can someone shed some light on whether or not I can access the hotel without going out to Landside? I have no e-visa.

Thanks.

I am traveling in J on oneworld and am OWE. Are MALS Premium Lounge and GVK both available for OWE on oneworld partner airlines?

When you search for rooms on the Niranta website it searches both landside and airside rooms and gives you a consolidated results page. Look for rooms that say something like “Comfort Twin Bed International to International Transit Guest only.” Those are rooms available airside.

You will get access to the GVK J lounge for sure. Don’t know if you’ll get access to the GVK Premium Lounge. If you get access to the Premium Lounge it won’t be to the roped of F section though. But still a step up from the J Lounge. All GVK lounges in BOM are very good though.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.
Very helpful!

Having a bit of a disagreement here, with some apparently varied experiences:

if we arrive at T2 international departures more than 4 hours early, will they let us in the building or not? In the past I’ve been allowed in the building 6-7 hours early, but couldn’t check in/head to immigration until 4 hours out. A companion said that they don’t allow us in the building at all until 4 hours from flight departure. I’m sure things could have changed - it’s been a couple years since I took this flight.

Any current experiences?

I have never been that early in BOM. I've arrived 3 hours prior to flight. What you could do is still go in 4 hours ahead and if they say no - hang about in coffee shop/restaurant for an hour.

you were lucky if you were allowed in 6-7 hours before your flight....they normally won't allow you in until 4 hours out....

I guess I got lucky last time, and maybe somewhat this time. I unfortunately had to get there 6+ hours early again, and told the guy at the door that I needed to talk to an airline agent to make a change to my ticket (which was true, although the change was very minor and not urgent). He waived me through no problem, only warning me that I wouldn’t be allowed to leave the airport under any circumstances.

That being said, I’d love to avoid the situation entirely next time. My company’s local guide/organizer/etc. insists on trying to get us to the airport 5-6+ hours early because of traffic. I can only assume he had a bad experience one time and is adamant that it won’t happen again. Does anybody else try for anything this ridiculously early? I’m thinking it’s just him.

mumbai traffic is bad but even then i would never get to the airport 5-6 hours before my flight....2 hours before for an international flight & an hour before for a domestic flight....

Which INTL airlines operate their business class check-in counters away from the economy check-in counters? I've read that the end rows of check-in counters serve as premium check-in for INTL flights. Looking for KLM specifically. Thanks!

Does AI 33 (BOM-GOI) leave from international side of Terminal 2 ? If yes, the AI lounge (GVK) used by
both international and domestic passengers the same ? Let me know. Thanks in advance.

oliver2002 May 8, 2019 12:25 am

Yes, international side, and you can use the GVK lounge. Make sure to pick up a lounge pass from the AI checkin desk.
