I was in India in March. I also flew CW landing at 1-30am from memory into DEL. DEL is a modern airport and even at that time of the morning it was a breeze coming through immigration and meeting out prebooked car. On the outbound we were in transit from CMB but found the airport a pleasant experience. There are rooms for hire if required (we weren't allowed through until 4 hours before departure). The lounge was average but there is a great sports pub to while away the hours watching cricket :)
As for touristy things to do, Agra (Taj), Jaipur and Ranthambore (Tigers if it's open now) are all easily doable over a short period. Might be a good idea to hire a guide, especially when you first try to book train tickets! DO travel by train though, great fun.
Hope you get the CW flights and have a great time
