Staying in Gurgaon while visiting Delhi
 

Hi I am staying at the Courtyard in Gurgaon while visiting Delhi for a few days. How out of the way is it from the major sites of Delhi? Also plan on catching a train from the train station in Delhi to Agra to see the Taj. Is it a huge pain to commute back and forth? What are the transportation options and how much do they cost? The courtyard has great reviews and got a great deal there so I would definitely like to stay there but wasn't sure how much of a pain or what the cost will be to get around from there.

gurgaon to the delhi sites or station can take as little as 20 minutes or 2 hours depending on the time of day....

as far as transportation is concerned, you can take either the metro or a taxi....

while i would not want to do the gurgaon - delhi commute daily, i wouldn't mind it for a few days if i was visiting....

I never did this commute on the metro. Im wondering how you will find transportation once in Delhi.

But, assuming a car picks you up at the hotel and stays with you all day, are you sure an average of 3 hours a day is worth staying at the courtyard during your holiday?

If you are dead set on staying in Gurgaon, then take the metro into Delhi and catch a cab from the metro station to wherever you want to go. Personally, for sightseeing, I would just stay in Delhi. You'll have to take cabs/car and driver to see a lot of the sights anyway, but you shave off quite a bit of travel time by staying in town. The tough part about being a tourist in Delhi is that it is really not walkable, for the most part, nor does the metro cover much of the city. Delhi is very spread out, and the tourist sights are located over a very broad area.
