Overnight at BOM terminal 2?
I've seen versions of this question asked but nothing exactly corresponding to my situation.
I am arriving inbound on UA 48 to BOM at around 9PM, and leaving at 5:15 the next morning on an Air India flight to Goa. Air India to Goa departs from the international terminal. I am curious about the prospects for staying overnight at the airport (I've currently booked the Hyatt Regency on points but I'd save them if I thought I could do so easily). Will I be able to stay in the terminal / would I be able to access one of the clipper lounges, or will I have to wait until 3 hours before my flight because I'm transferring international to domestic even though in the same physical terminal building? If I left the airport to go get a late dinner and then came back, would I be able to enter at midnight? Would I be able to access a lounge at that time? Are the lounges available 24 hours? |
i would suggest going through the thread below:

Thanks. I read through those (extensive) threads and could not find exactly the answer I was looking for, whether I could stay overnight airside at BOM if I was transferring from an international flight to a domestic flight that nonetheless left out of the international terminal. I decided to keep my Hyatt reservation and was not unhappy - the Hyatt Regency was a perfectly comfortable place to have a drink and a nap before getting back to the airport and the process of getting to my flight at Terminal 2 in the early morning could not have been easier.
For future information seekers, my best guess is that it is not possible to stay airside in this instance, as the international transfers desk was before passport control (and as my next flight was domestic that wouldn't do), but I'd add that the airport staff at BOM was generally very reasonable and that they were happy to offers solutions like, "if you don't need the immigration desk just walk around it," which makes me feel like if I had asked around a solution might have presented itself. From my cursory glance, overnighting landside at T2 would have been possible - there were a few very basic shops, etc - but not particularly pleasant. I didn't actually notice where the lounge entrances were but that information is definitely available elsewhere on this board. Airside it looked like any other airport that hadn't been recently renovated. |
Sorry I can't answer all of your questions, but definitely do not exit the airport with the intention of re-entry more than 3 hours prior to your flight. You will be denied access and have to sit on a curb outside until 3 hours before your flight. The mosquitos are horrid. Ask me how I know. ;)

Go to the Hyatt, my friend... BOM is not an airport you want to sit around in after a long flight: airside, landside or curbside.
