If you are going to Amritsar/Punjab atm you may want to think about some good DEET based repellent and use permethrin treated mosquito nets.

Debbie Downer eh? Love STL!
I have read on the dengue fever outbreak and have purchased deet to take along. Will I really need nets? Do the hotels provide them or sell them?

Most air conditioned hotels are probably going to be ok, but if I had to be there I would still bring a light small one. (you wont notice most bites if you are asleep) I think they have them in hotels in the south. I would not assume most hotels would provide them.

Being outside for multi hour Wagga border experiance/Golden temple etc.. is probably where you are going to get the mozzies. Just wear fully covering clothing and apply Deet based repellent, every two hours. I would bolt inside if you start getting bit anyway.. For me I would reroute my trip. (but that is just me... even a small chance of Hemmoragic fever makes me itchy.)

Sounds like advice I can follow. Also will be looking to buy a plug in skeeto killers, I understand they're readily available in Indian grocery/pharmacies..
Thanks for the words of caution and advise.
