Drunk without ticket clears security, gets onto the MAA tarmac

That's the first time he even got stopped, when he tried to board a plane.

Chennai, Aug. 18: A drunk cobbler exposed chinks in security at Anna International Airport on Wednesday, making his way without a ticket to a private aircraft on the tarmac which Delhi-bound passengers were boarding.

Airport officials said A. Krishanmoorthy, 27, reached bay 59 around 4.45 pm and then joined the queue of passengers waiting to board a flight to Delhi.

“The airline staff discovered that he did not have a ticket and alerted the CISF,” an official said. “The CISF men picked him up. The man was later handed over to the airport police.”

The police said the man was a resident of Madipakkam and was completely drunk.

“After questioning him we discovered how he managed to enter the building and pass the security checks to get to the tarmac,” a police officer said. “A lot of construction activity is happening at the airport. The security personnel must have mistaken him to be a worker. Even then, I wonder how he got past the doors without a valid duty pass.”

scary stuff....they desperately need to do something about the security at most indian airports....

Shocking..specially considering that any sane and presentable looking people cant even get inside the gates without buying visitor tickets to see off their relatives in many domestic airports.

and this man entered, went thru security check etc etc..hmmm.. wht can we say other than our authorities need to wake up fast .......

i wasn't referring to the fact that he was drunk, but that he managed to almost board a plane without a ticket....that's where the lapse in security comes in....
