Delhi Terminal 3

With the brand new T3 opening in Delhi this year, I was wondering what the plans for Emirates will be?

I have read that most international flights which switch to T3, if this is the case does anyone know if Emirates are building a dedicated lounge?

I have the following flights booked for Dec 2010, EK512 (First) DXB-DEL and EK513 (Business) DEL-DXB.

If they are not switching to T3, does anyone know what the lounges in Delhi T2 are like? EK website says they are "Mauriya/ Clipper Lounge" for both First and Business passengers.

The Clipper is a shared / contract lounge. Not the best but still better than the rest of the terminal.

A quick note about the Clipper lounge:

I have never seen it as empty as in the photo. It's generally always packed.

I have never been able to get the internet to work. It connects you to a page that takes your cell phone number and promises to email a login. I have a US cell number and can send and receive text messages in Delhi without a problem, but the internet password never arrives. Many other people seemed to have the same problem.

The guys with guns outside won't let you in more than three hours before your flight. Don't go early expecting to be able to kick back in the lounge and get some work done.

Thanks very much! I read that 90% of passengers will be using the new terminal 3 when it opens this year, so hoping I will be one of them!

All International airlines will move to the new Terminal this July.

To top it off HYD ranked no.5 in the WORLD in 2009 by ASQ top performers 2009, DEL got the best improvement award in Asia-Pacific in 2009... Finally DEL came in no.4 in the world in the 15-20 million Passenger category. 1) BWI 2) TPE 3)SZX 4) DEL 5) SLC ...

Looks good. Wonder when it will open though.

EK is probably building the lounge as they know this is India and everything runs on IST which is a few months/years behind GMT.

To be honest with you I can't see this terminal being ready by the CW Games. The investment by EK is probably worth that as they will be hoping to get some good traffic during this time.

Jul 3 is the official announcement. I had a chance to go to T3 last week and it looks pretty much on schedule. Perhaps a couple weeks delay max. Defly in time for the CW 2010.

i think a lot of people are going to be surprised when this is ready by the time the games come around....

so true....delhi is in a mess right now....everywhere i go i see 'commonwealth project 2010' construction signs....

do you guys think they'll pull it off?? last time I was in DEL was in Dec 09 and than they had 10 months to go for the games, and I though't they'll get everything ready, but been reading alot in the news that some venues are still incomplete... looks a bit shaky, with all the investment uptil this date, don't want to see it get wasted if the Commonwealth Games Authorities decide to shift to another country, incase India does not get ready in time...

i think they will make it in time....they don't have a choice....

:D ur right they don't have a choice after investing $$$$$, so is the work continuing 24/7 ?
