Mahavir Jayanti Observance Worth Seeking Out?

We have a brief visit to India scheduled for late March/early April, and Mahavir Jayanti falls on April 2 this year. I haven't set our schedule yet, and I think it would be possible to schedule a visit to a major Jain site for April 2. Is this something worth trying to do, or is it something that would not be as interesting for an outsider? It falls on a Tuesday, and I see that Ellora is usually closed on Tuesdays. Will it just not be observed there this year? What about Shatrunjaya in Gujarat? Will we just be in people's way?

i don't think you will be in people's way but you should definitely expect a large crowd no matter which temple you go to....

Thanks.

I'm not sure why I thought April 2nd was a Tuesday. It's a Thursday this year.
