Lounge Access in MAA

I will be flying out of MAA Domestic to DEL and then to ORD in the next couple of weeks and wanted to find out my options for lounge access. I am EXP with AA and have a Amex Plat card flying Economy on Jet.

Is there any lounge that I will be able to access at MAA?

Jet has a lounge they should be able to give you access to - for the EXP status.

It is on the 1st floor or somewhere like that however - checkin, go out past the security barrier and climb the stairs to your left. Inconvenient.

There's a paid lounge (and also the lounge for kingfisher) called the BICA lounge that's not bad at all .. you could stop in there by paying some amount .. if you really need a lounge when flying domestic. I'd suggest that you arrive an hour or a bit less before your flight and just go straight through security after checkin.

I actually like the BICA restaurant cum lounge more than the others, spacious and relatively empty. You'd have to buy your own foods and drinks though (unless you're flying out on an airline that uses that lounge/restaurant) but it's relatively inexpensive and there's no charge to get in. Also, you have to pay for your wifi access.

There is lift to the 9W lounges but it isn't signed. There are lounges - one for Gold/Silver, one for Plat and those travellling Premiere. The Prem lounge was plain, but pretty quiet with waiter service.

Anyone know which airlines have contracted the BICA restaurant/lounge?

The domestic one is used by IT / Paramount I think. As for the international - I believe I used it on an LH flight and its certainly much nicer than the alternatives (le meridien - even after the renovation to look like a resto bar instead of a seedy 80s "multicuisine bar and restaurant", and certainly far above the other two contract lounges). I also saw TG, EK, CX banners outside the BICA.

Thanks for the notes on the airlines that are with the BICA lounge. I really appreciate it. :)

9W Lounge in MAA Domestic

I'm thinking of burning a upgrade voucher for MAA-DEL or DEL-MAA segments in 9W - Biz.

AFAIK and from the recent flights I took, I could not see any 9W lounge in MAA Domestic Terminal.

From 9W website, there are 2 Lounges in MAA domestic.

Is the Lounge for Premiere is worth spending 4-5 hrs in MAA or should I take a earlier flight?

MAA-DEL along with BOM-CCU is the longest domestic route - good place to use a voucher.
The premiere lounge at MAA is very average, and not worth spending more than 20-30 mins at tops.

I took the Long connection, but steped out to the city for some personal work. Ended up in the Premiere lounge for about 40 mins. Had some snacks and moved to Security.

The Food Offering was OK. Nothing exceptional.

The Premiere Lounge opens to a restarant (I belive) in the back., Any clue what it is?

Its just the airport's own restaurant .. anybody can walk in and buy a meal there. Not so good, overpriced etc etc.

Now that the Airport is under extensive renovation, anybody here has a whiff of how are they preparing to expand or renovate the lounge services offered at present to the travellers?
