Changes To Jet Airways-Citibank Credit Cards...New Level: Platinum

Just to let everyone know, now that Jet & Citibank India has come out with their co-branded Platinum card, the Jet-Citibank Gold card mile earn ratio will be now reduced to 2 miles per Rs. 100/- spent, while the Platinum version will now earn the 4 miles per Rs. 100/- spent.

Another change is that the upgrade certificate earn level will be different for the Platinum card, where it will earn *international* upgrade certs, instead of the domestic ones earned on Gold right now, and which will be continued to be earned on Gold...

More in a bit...

Edited to Add: I submitted an application to "upgrade" from my Gold to Platinum, so that I will still earn the 4 miles per Rs. 100/-. Results awaited...

From the 9w website:

Is there any way for an NRI to get these cards?

I know that the rules say that you have to be an Indian resident.

Is there a way for NRIs to get the cards? For example, can you establish a large deposit/balance and use the card? What if you have a PAN number and are paying taxes locally in India?

Plat card

A question about this card. Do you think citibank would object to business billing? I mean can I charge my companies phone, purchase bills to this card without any problems? This would mean me billing transactions of around 4L a month. (imagine how many miles i could earn in a year)

I am asking this as they also have a Citibank Jet Corporate card which seems to be for business. But that only rewards 2 miles miles 100rs.

I just would do it and see - ICICI Bank singles out certain charges they find suspect and will then object to this, but not Citibank, as far as I know....

I don't get it. Why would they want to single out transactions. I spend money on credit card, they get % of the money from the company. The more i spend, the more they earn. It seems like a win-win situation.

Why would they not like you spending money? I can understand if you are billing loads on Petrol purchases where the CC company does not earn money. But for normal transactions they should be happy?

Anyone care to shed some light on this?

Many of the US credits cards such as Chase have award restrictions. Each of my Chase credit cards limits me to a maximum of $600 in anual cash rebates. Even Discover cards have limits on rewards/rebates.
