Indigo Longhaul Operations

Indigo now really wants to go for the big time and ordered a few dozen A350 for longahul service starting 2027 :o

Curious if they will stick to the lcc for longhaul...

They have gone straight for the big daddy of widebodies. 12 across in slimlines to the US!! :D

They'll be the first LCC with such big planes. Norwegian went bankrupt very quickly trying to run a few dreamliners. Really interesting to see what their strategy would be. Maybe domestic routes a-la Japan?

If they don't go crazily for TATL or TPAC, they can come out ahead.

Eg. Delhi to Frankfurt on Vistara is almost full with lower price when comparing with LH. Indians will fill that LCC route if the price is right. :)

Cebu Pacific have 439 seats in A330-900, and Scoot have done well with dreamliners as an LCC.

I think 6E will go the Scoot route - some premium seating at the front.

Yeah but the A350 is a much bigger beast with a much longer range. It will be interesting to see what they do with these planes.

Also you missed Air Asia who have themselves ordered a few A350s as well.

My bet is on India US in dense config Tower Air style. Thats where you can make money. The A359 can do that. AI has shown that people don't care about quality of seating as long as they can fly direct.

Yeah I think it will be a densely packed US flight too... but I wouldn't be surprised to see them do domestic metro routes as well in 4-5 years time.

Like the plane they are flying to IST. One row of business class seats at the front.

What about Indigo options after 31 may if lease with turkish airlines not renewed?

I would avoid booking and if already booked start thinking about a plan B. In all likelihood it will be BAU but you never know.

Saw it on the news from CPH.

Do you think they will do codeshare?

On their 500+ seat 777-300¿

While SK might not be the compelling proposition in Y, Indigo effectively only have Y.

How long before a 15 hour nonstop to NYC is launched that has 28" seat pitch, no IFE screen, and chicken junglee sandwich for breakfast, lunch and dinner? :D

6E/Indigo service to CPH will be part of their partnership with AK/KL, VS and DL. The LHR slot for Indigo's new BOM-LHR aervice came from Virgin. I expect the choice of CPH is informed by the connecting codeshare opportunities with SK. It should really help SK's transatlantic business.

6E bumped their order of 30 A359 to 60 on Friday: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com.../124635472.cms
