Indigo Bags
I'm flying DEL to KTM which comes with 20KG. Is this one bag or multiple bags?

You can take as many bags as you want. The total just has to be under 20kgs.
Each additional bag will cost you ₹1,615. You still have to pay the per kg charge. |

Is that not a bit contradictory? If I have unlimited bags why would I pay for more?
You have 20kgs free allowance so you can carry that in one or multiple bags. Anything over 20kgs has to be bought in multiples of 5kgs. So if you want to carry an additional 20kgs then you will have to pay ₹1,615 for the additional bag plus ₹10K for the excess weight. |
Okay, so if I buy only an additional 5kg, I can't use it without paying for an extra bag as well? I'll have 24kg in two bags.

I believe each bag can weigh up to 32kgs max so if you have 24kgs total then I would suggest you only carry one bag. |
Thanks for the answers, I appreciate it.
I'm not going to lie, I can't follow these rules at all - If I have 20KG I can check in multiple bags. But if I pay extra and have 29kg, I can only check in one bag? |

This is the way their thought process works: If you have under 20kgs then you can check in as many bags as you want. If you buy excess baggage then they will charge you in multiples of 5kg. So if you have 29kg then you can either check-in one bag & just pay for the extra 10kg. If you want to check-in 2 bags then the first bag upto 20kg will be free & they will charge you ₹1,615 for the second bag & excess baggage for the 10kg. Now lets suppose you have 3 bags. If you have 10kg in each bag then the first 2 will be free as they fall under the 20kgs allowance. You will have to pay ₹1,615 for the third bag as well as the charge for the 10kg slab. |

Plot twist - on twitter Indigo told me I only have one bag included. On the add on page it says two.

Are you very sure about this? As far as I know 6E has a 2 bag + XXX kgs so additional bag charges won't kick in unless you have a 3rd bag irrespective of the weight of the first two.

I'll see if I can get a proper answer from them on Twitter, if not will cancel and just book with Air India.
|
Indigo on Twitter are adamant I only get one bag.
Website says 2 Flyertalk says unlimited Who to trust!? |

Website says 2 Flyertalk says unlimited Who to trust!? You can potentially argue with them and show them a printout of the luggage allowance page and try to avoid the additional fees if any. |
I think I'll just swap to the Air India flight at least I know the baggage allowance with them
