YYZ, like ORD, is a captive audience that will accept whatever the slumlord dishes out. The old 77Ws are going out full. The new planes will likely be used for the proposed new routes.
Depressing but true. These routes are full of older Indians flying back and forth between India and their family members abroad. Why deal with the unfamiliar environment of ME airport connections when you can fly nonstop? It's a captive audience indeed.

Weren’t they also supposed to get the 3 SQ 77Ws? What happened to those? Haven’t heard anything about them.

Looks like the ex-EY planes are now dedicated to LHR/EWR from the flight patterns from DEL & BOM.. DEL-EWR seems to be on the new ones.. thought they would keep these for LHR as 1 frame routes..

What is the latest information on SFO-DEL aircraft assignment?
AI site is showing Premium Economy availability on AI184 for mid-April. Is it safe to assume it will be ex-DL 777-200LR plane with lie flat business class?
Google flights and seatguru say it is angled lie flat :-(

If there's PE - it will be the new ex DL 77L .. but as always - everything is subject to last min swaps..

I thought those ex-DLs had problems with the O2 tanks capacity and couldn't fly out of DEL to the US....

It does but this route doesnt fly the Hindukush route where additional O2 required - goes eastward from DEL and from SFO comes down through USSR/IRAN I think..

They've been on this route for a few months now at least. Not daily though. I flew a RT earlier this year on them.

That was the general routing, although one would have no idea onboard since there's no in-flight map (or at least I couldn't find it). Checked FlightAware afterwards.

Im on the BOM-JFK this weekend and hair-india has swapped the ex-DL 772 to the ex-Etihad 77W - why would they do this? Fewer than expected Premium econ sales? How much worse will the economy experience be considering the 3-4-3 setup instead of the 3-3-3?

Yeah my flight JFK-BOM in mid December also changed to Etihad 77W. My guess is that they need the capacity on JFK-BOM especially the larger EY J and F cabin. The DL planes I believe will be redeployed to DFW/LAX. Wonder where they are being used now? Maybe SFO-DEL? The DL 77L have a very large prem economy (46 seats or something). Probably too big for AI to really sell where as Ive seen their J go out full quite a bit on JFK-BOM so increasing to 40 J seats is probably a good thing for AI.

So 2 aircraft are on JFK-BOM, 1X EWR-BOM, 1X LHR-DEL, 1X LHR-BOM = 5 aircraft where is the 6th Etihad 77W flying for AI?

Current usage of the Ex-Etihad 77Ws : VT-AEQ, VT-AER, VT-AEM, VT-AEN, VT-AEO, VT-AEP - seem to mostly rotate in and out of EWR and LHR from BOM, DEL, MAA

I also found an MP ticket @ 88k miles US-India and booked. AI F segment is LHR-DEL in October. Currently showing as 777-200LR (so still the legacy aircraft). What are chances they are retired by then and I get to go in either the EY or SQ 777-300ERs? Does anyone have detailed on when AI will fully retire their own 777-200LRs (I know they have 5 total right now, 3 leased from DL and 2 of their own).
