Who are these investors wanting to pour money into this kind of thing at this time?

Orange/saffron w/ purple? Why can’t I say I’m surprised.

The colours on the home page banner causes you to belch. Why did their leadership not have a similar reaction?

Their booking system seems to be fairly straightforward. It's visually not the best looking one but seems functional enough - somethings will need to be refined and adjusted for sure - like combining add-on costs for priority check-in and priority boarding! Thankfully the seats are just all purple instead of their horrid colour scheme.

Their management needs to take a more conservative approach though. They have made numerous announcements in the past (including recently about their launch date) and not kept their word about a single deadline etc. That's not good for their public image. Of course if they always over commit and under deliver they will sink even faster than 20 mobile operators contesting to trying to provide 4G services in India.

I checked the pricing on BLR-COK on both Asaka website and on MMT, it's either the same or more expensive than Indigo.

I don't know how it's like on other routes.

As it was advertised as ULCC, I was hoping it to be cheaper. Well, I guess I was totally wrong.

The best one this week was that they will start with 28 weekly flights between BOM & AMD. Well yes, 2 flights a days are 7x2x2=28, but that is not how that is done. If you have two flights a day its 14 weekly flights.

The ones who have too much "black" money. Frankly there are cheaper ways to convert "black" to white than investing in airlines. Akasa hopes to become like Indigo one day.

Gambling has its fans. Other than that, can’t see what they are hoping to get out of this longer term even for the investments sourced from kala pools.

They re-positioned themselves from ULCC to just LCC. Now G8 is the only ULCC (on paper at least, their fares aren't significantly cheaper anywhere).

This isn't like the US where LCC/ULCC prices are generally a fraction of the Big 3/4/5... (which IMHO are LLCs too mostly). UK and AI are sometimes more expensive but only sometimes and that differences mostly goes away closer to the flight date.

Precisely the point, in India, there is no real concept of FS vs LCC vs ULCC.

In India there is a difference between FS and LCCs. Price isn't one of them.

I suppose the best that will happen is QP and 9W will hasten the demise of SG and G8.

TBH the ULCC/LCC model won't work in India until we have secondary airports in major cities with lower costs.

Or the airlines can properly nickle & dime customers for things like check-in, surcharge for your name starting with a vowel on a even number day and so on....

There are no secondary airports coming up in any major city any time soon. Except Mumbai in 2028. That said 6E is doing fine. As is Southwest by claiming to be a LCC but offering enough services and features to put FSs to shame.

I guess there is nothing like ULCC/LCC in India, it's just a way to save giving out a small snack in the flight, i guess everything else is pretty much the same.
