So what's new? AI Director of Operations banned again for failing breathalyzer test

AI 's Director of Operations was stopped from piloting a Delhi - London flight for failing breathalyzer tests again - the last time this happened to him was in 2017! Flight delayed, of course.

"director of operations for Air India, and has had responsibility for flight safety and training " seems about right.

What impressed me in this case is the fact that this guy got caught and was booked. If AI was such a corrupt old boy network this would have been a no brainer: go home and let the standby pilot fly.

The publication of the exact test results duly signed by many indicates that someone in AI wants to get the pilot kicked out

Can't be fired. He's an employee of the state. Total protection. But he can be re-assigned.
