It is Air India (Express) all over again. This airline and its crew never cease to amaze me - what were they thinking?

The fact that it went unnoticed by the crew is very shocking tbh.

There are only 2 ways it could be noticed by the crew.... feeling the impact or error/warning lights on this cockpit. Based on news reports there werenít either of those so itís not surprising that the pilots didnít realize they hit the wall.

Had the passensgers said they felt an impact I think it would be very negligent of the pilots.

I think AI has great pilots... AI Express pilots though arenít that great or experienced.

The fact is that they were two impacts - first the perimeter wall was knocked down and then the communications mast/tower was also uprooted from its base. How can the flight deck (as well as the cabin crew) be oblivious of two impacts) even if the instruments did not signal something wrong? And why was the CVR turned off?

I will not dispute Keyser's comment that AI cabin crew is generally better than their UA counterparts, but pilots are another story altogether - even on wide body aircraft. No doubt there are some good AI pilots but there have been plenty of reports of AI pilots slipping up in more ways than one.

More importantly, was this a soft hit, or a hard hit? I know FTers like to debate that.

Why were they flying for 4 hours going from Trichy to Mumbai? They could have reached DXB, their final destination in 4 hours. Did they stay on course for DXB and then change their minds half way over the Arabian Sea?

What I have heard in news (unreliable as always) is that DXB declined to clear them for landing and asked them to turn back.

Not a fun few days for Air India.

An FA fell from a parked plane onto the tarmac in BOM
