Goyal is like Kepa. Refusing to leave even though his time is up and he’s being called off the field.

There is conversation that EY may want "join" UA. With EY's stake in 9W increasing this would be quite an alliance of sorts.

Goyal finally stepped down today. I guess having about 50 planes impounded was the straw that broke the camel's back. 49 and he just didn't care.

Apparently 49 planes are still grounded @ 9W. I can hear AI folks in the background saying "Ummm is that news? Maybe you'd like to take a look at our hangars". And 6E in the backgerground going "Yep yep yep".

When is this saga going to end. Crew still not paid, lessors not paid, planes grounded and some grounded for spares !! Aren't they closing in on roughly 50% of their planes being grounded. How much worse does it need to get before it starts to get better ? Wouldn't be surprised if crews start jumping ship once they get their backdated pay. Or maybe Jet will hold on to that for leverage !

They can't jump ship easily. DCGA has made it mandatory for pilots to give 1 year notice. Otherwise 6E & SG would have snapped all of them up by now.

Also Etihad is doing some renegotiation apparently. That's dragging things out.

Really ? DCGA get's involved in recruitment ? If so, surely they should give Jet Airways' crew waiver due to non-payment which probably means breach of the employment contract. I'm guessing either there isn't a Pilots union in India or they aren't strong enough to demand payment or down the tools.

Maybe it will end in today's style of Senor Managers decamping to the Caribbean ?

They got involved in the heydays of DN, S2 and others when pilots were jumping ship (actually plane) every other week. So the airlines contested i.e. lobbied DCGA and the ministries that because they were investing so much in the pilots training etc. they needed them to stick around for a little longer otherwise they would have to shut shop.

Most airlines esp. 9W makes pilots "pay" heavy bonds to prevent them from fleeing at the drop of a hat. Esp. to international airlines where DCGA and other Indian authorities have limited control.

Heard that they're letting go of pilots who want to leave & without having to serve the usual notice period. Probably in a bid to cull the ranks a bit.

...And avoid paying them salaries due. Quite a few pilots have bonds around the 1Cr range.
