Umm... I'm guessing their plans are to fly those planes and get as many INT slots are possible.

As 9W found out... maintaining a wide mix of aircraft including manufacturers is insanely expensive without the necessary scale and right business/revenue model. UK will inevitably face the same challenges - and they're a much smaller/weaker organization.

It's really a question of how long they run those planes and how much they invest in fixing those planes to standardize their product offerings and how much they have to invest in personal, parts, equipment etc. to run and maintain those planes. If they keep the planes for a short time then spending a lot of money on refitting and maintaining them they will lose a lot of money. If they keep them for a long time then being able to effectively manage the assets is going to prove to be incredibly challenging. It's a catch-22 situation here. UK's 3 cabin system has been J, PE & Y. While 9W's widebodies likely have F, J, Y.

Look at SG. They've not even bothered to repaint the planes. However they're being forced to introduce a J class because they're not refitting the seats. If they're not going to be able to monetize that J class and because 9W's Y seat density is much less than SG's - they're going to be ending up losing plenty of money on those planes. They maybe hoping to only ride out the MAX saga with these planes but who knows.

Vistara leased the 9W 737 to hog the slots while they wait for the ordered A320 to arrive. Its an expensive route no doubt. Their team is smart enough to know that a uniform fleet is the key to keep costs down, the 9W 737 move is purely political.

Spicejet leased the 9W 737 to cover the grounding of the max fleet. Boeing is paying for the extra costs for sure.

After the carcass of 9W has been pulled to shreds and the bones bleached in the sun the domestic (and Asian 737) market share will have mostly gone to the indian LoCos and the longhaul traffic to the ME3 and EU3. If Vistara tries to do a 9W 2.0 they will fail. I get the feeling they are smart enough to know that.

He has been grounded - Yes.
He has got no way to deposit INR 18,000 cr - we don't know that.

Just today I read in the papers that there were fake invoices, over billing of fuel expenses and other ways in which money was siphoned off from Jet Airways. Where did all that money go?

“A State Bank of India commissioned forensic audit of Jet Airways books has revealed misappropriation of funds relating to provision of loans and fraudulent billing for JP Miles.”

Heh... did 9W do that...

Although this is probably different to the way JP tries to stiff it’s customers... still what goes around comes around.

The JP miles program was used in the end phase to inject cash into the airline and not out of it. The foreign ownership and equity rules of loyalty programs are a very grey zone and Etihad used it everywhere.

I don't think SBI was complaining about cash being injected into 9W....
"The report also says that the company was billed Rs 140 crore fraudulent JP miles leading to a loss of Rs 46 crore. Multiple other discrepancies were noted in the miles accrued versus what the company reported."

So now the lenders are putting in $10 mil towards helping going through all the claims the financial & operational creditors have submitted. Apparently out of the 16k or so financial creditors claims submitted only 33 have passed the mustard.

And now they’re wasting more time hunting for a new investor.

I saw one of the 777s that was parked near the Jet domestic gates taxiing today. Unfortunately we took off before I could tell whether it was moved to different parking spot or took off.
