They’re dropping the route. It will free up a lot of planes for them because this is the only real long long haul they fly. Plus they’re now really scared to fly to the west. They’ve got banks in the US & UK plus a whole bunch of other vendors baying for blood.

Going to be very hard for them to pull out of this. Their reputation has gone. Even if they do pull through how long will it be for?

The government/SBI need to grow a pair and just shut down the airline now. This allows passengers to start considering alternatives. I believe in the current scenario certain domestic and international flights are still showing as operating few days out. This means people cannot apply for refund either against their travel insurance or credit cards or with the airline directly. This is also stopping other airlines from offering rescue fares. If they are really concerned about stranded passengers, wind down the airline for good so people can start planning next steps.

Not international any more.

Assuming they have grounded their 332s and 77Ws this means they are now effectively flying about 5-6 aircraft domestic.

Also there is no credit card protection in India so majority of 9Ws customers are screwed.

It's long overdue for the Govt of India to provide strong protections to bank card users, but maybe if 9W goes under before or during the elections the GoI will do a kiss-up move and nudge AI to provide discounts to 9W ticket holders -- not that it would make this fiasco's harmed customers whole.

The current Government of India is only interested in protecting billionaires and friends of the ruling party. Lip service for all others until the election and after that, not even that, But Indians voted this government in with much enthusiasm, so they deserve the outcome.

Govt. won’t care about moving pax to AI which may not even be logistically/practically possible in most cases... they are interested in the farcical show of showing 9W afloat.

Today, received an email from Jet stating that the last leg (AMS - DEL) is cancelled and to contact them for further details. They seem to show the PDX - AMS leg (on DL) still valid. Tried reaching their US toll free number, but that also does not work now !

Wondering if I should call Delta to check or directly call Amex to get the refund initiated. And any experiences on how the refund is computed, since now may possibly need to buy a OW which is nearly the price of a return flight.

Do you mean, the credit card will refund the charge even if they don't provide any feature like this? Will this come under service not delivered category? This ticket was booked with Amex Gold issued in US and it does not have any travel interruption coverage (only misplaced baggage coverage).

What happens if Jet goes down and closes shop? Will Delta honor their flight ? I assume Jet will try to give a refund for the AMS - DEL leg but that will take its own time ?

Have not bought trip insurance. Is that something we can buy or add on ticket now?
