AI Heathrow airport upgrade
I am flying to New Delhi on AI next week 26th October 9pm and my agent has booked no refund Economy. The AI website talks of an airport upgrade to business/executive class.
Has anyone upgraded like this before? I am trying to check for availability but the website keeps freezing. |
Its pretty easy, you can also do it in the London office in advance.
Passengers can pay the Airport Upgrade amount at the airport or Air India City offices by purchasing an EMD in advance across the country. The EMD can be redeemed against the Airport Upgrade if seats available on the Gateway point to Destination; and Upgrade will be granted from Gateway point to Destination. The EMDs will be used at the airport (e.g. BOM-DEL-JFK) when the upgrade materializes from the mentioned gateway points on the route. If passenger is purchasing an EMD in advance, the passenger must be listed on SA basis in Executive Class against RBD Z. This will help the Airports in arranging meals for the higher class. Such EMDs can be fully refunded if unutilized against Airport Upgrade. |

get to the airport a little early, go to the ticketing counter & ask for an airport upgrade....if there is space then they will take the payment & upgrade your seat....i've done this a bunch of times....
also, as oliver2002 stated, this can also be done at the city booking office in advance but i have had a bad experience with the city office once so i now prefer to just upgrade at the airport.... the city office processed my upgrade & took the payment but when i got to the airport their system was not reflecting the upgrade & they told me i would either have to pay for the upgrade or travel in the economy seat....i had to pay again & eventually got my refund for the transaction at the city office but it was a pain in the a$$ to get the refund.... |
