Tiruchirappalli (TRZ) : 6x daily to KUL?

I noticed that TRZ has 6 daily departures to KUL (4 by AK and 2 by OD), more than at MAA. Other International destinations served from TRZ are CMB, SIN and DXB(?)

I guess AIX also used to have one daily to KUL not so long ago.

Wonder what could be reason for operators to deploy such frequencies here? Cargo?

Skilled & Unskilled Labor Market to SE countries. In fact TRZ-SIN had the highest weekly frequency compared to any other Indian airport at some point in 2010 with Air India Express, Tiger Air serving multiple flights a day.

religious tourism & unskilled workers going back & forth would be the 2 most likely reasons....

Skilled Workers in and around TRZ were flocked Singapore, Malaysia and Dubai. Being a native around TRZ, i can say that at least 50 to 100 from many of the village will be working in these countries (Referral works best here ). So it is natural that the frequency is high to cater the demand.

You can add the associated family Visits too

If only they have one or two TRZ-DEL/BOM daily flights... *sigh*.

For those in the west coast of the US/Canada, flying via KUL/SIN to get to TRZ is actually cheaper, than via MAA.
