Is Indigo strict with baggage dimensions?
I have a carry-on bag that I can keep under 7 kg but it is closer to 58 cm in length rather than 55 cm.

Zero problems. They will only bother to check weight if they have enough time on their hands. Go ahead.

I can take one backpack, one hand-luggage correct?
Along with one checked bag under 15 Kg. The FAQ is a bit confusing, does not mention personal item (backpack) |

Along with one checked bag under 15 Kg. The FAQ is a bit confusing, does not mention personal item (backpack) "Free Cabin Baggage Allowance: 7 Kg (only one piece measuring not more than 55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm, including laptops or duty free shopping bags)." The one hand luggage of 7 kgs is all you get on Indigo for cabin baggage. No laptop bag or any personal item in addition to. Checked baggage allowance is 15 kg separate from the above. Take note that you can check in any number of bags as long as the total weight does not exceed 15 kgs. This is a weight system, not a piece system. Does not matter how many pieces you check in, as long as they are within 15 kgs. |

So based on the above, if my checked bag weighs 20kg, and IndiGo allows 15kg (domestic) do I simply pay the 2250 INR excess baggage fee (for 5kgs)? I'm trying to ascertain if the levels for excess baggage (3 kg, 5kg, etc) are in addition to the 15kg granted.

Carry On Baggage Domestic Flight
Bumping this thread. How strict is Indigo with carry on bag weight and items? The website says carry on baggage is limited to 7 kg.
Can I bring a roller board and backpack (i.e. 2 items), and do they weigh the carry on baggage? |

6E can be quite strict. 2 bags won't be a problem. They however do weigh and size bags often.

Thanks! I just would prefer to avoid checking luggage in if at all possible. Are they usually pretty quick with getting the luggage offloaded in case I do need to check my luggage?
Since you're not checking in anything you might get a pass. Keep your fingers crossed. |

Reasonably efficient. But it would be airport dependent.

If you skip the check-in desks and head straight to the gate you'll be fine. At the counters some agents tend to weigh carry-ons and some don't.

Have done 3 RTs last three weeks BLR-BOM on 6E.. backpack + roller board.. no issue except all flights were full and they were really really pushy on getting roller-boards checked in at gate.. obviously no issue with weights checking there since they are keen to get the aircraft boarding closed and depart..
