AI flight 405 and 406 question

Hello,

I am trying to fly from Agra (AGR) to Varanasi (VNS) on 04 November, 2015. I can pull up flights 406 leaving AGR at 14:05 and landing at HJR at 14:45 connecting flight 405 HJR at 15:20, landing at VNS at 16:10 on Kayak.com. Does anyone know if this is the same equipment? Has anyone flew this route? I am not in favor a 35 minute layover with an airplane change. Also, i am not able to book this routing as a single flight on air india's website but i can book the flight as a multi-segment. Can anyone tell me why that is? Thanks for your help.

Yes - The A/C would be same. As a part of Winter Schedule (currently AI does not operate like this), AI 406 would operate as DEL-HJR via AGR and from HJR it would operate as AI-405 HJR-DEL via VNS. You can book it separately as you mentioned but I would be awry.

As a side thought, I would personally prefer to drive from AGR to DEL and catch a DEL-VNS flight rather than get into an AI mess :)

Nice find... :p

AI 406 is usually DEL-VNS, but some days of the week operates DEL-VNS-HJR, all flown by the same aircraft. In winter 406 operates DEL-VNS-AGR-HJR.

405 is HJR-VNS-DEL. So yes, in your case it will be the same A320 that came from DEL via VNS and AGR to HJR that will turn and fly (back) to VNS. Ie you will not miss the HJR-VNS leg if your flight to HJR is late ;)

Thank you. Any idea why i can't purchase a single ticket on air india?

Probably because it cuts into the official MCT at HJR.
