transfer between 2 international fligts at CCU

I will be flying from BKK to Paro via CCU. BKK-CCU on Indigo and then CCU-Paro on Drukair.

I would like to know if there is a transfer desk at CCU where I will be able to check-in for my druk air flight or if I need to clear immigration (and need a visa) to Check-in.

Indigo is a LCC - i dont think they interline. So if you have check-in luggage - you will have to cross immigration, collect your luggage and then check-in again for Druk Air flight.

Thanks for the reply. On this particular trip, I will only travel with a handcarry. So no interline is not really a problem. Right now my question is more if there is a transfer desk airside? I tried to look on internet, but really much info on Indian airport.

There is a transfer desk in DEL & BOM. Not sure about CCU - maybe you can call Druk Air / Indigo and check.

CCU has a transfer desk just before the immigration desks. I doubt anyone will be there meeting Indigo arrivals, so you have to stop and ask for the handling agent of Druk air to show up. Indigo may give you some heart ache in BKK if you don't have a visa and say you just plan to transfer. India authorities require the airlines to report visa data....

Guess they would if OP has confirmed onward intl connection?
But ofcourse, always better to get this reconfirmed by Indigo folks.

There maybe folks in the transfer desk as Qatar arrives late night around an hr before Indigo.. and if the OP takes the earlier evening flight, then there should be many folks to ask..

I am not sure if Indigo can validate the Druk Air ticket. If they can't, it is problematic. Anyone can hold a printout of a ticket. How you prove that the reservation actually exists and you didn't in fact cancel it?

I'd suggest you apply for a transit Indian visa. CCU is not an airport that regularly handles a lot of transit traffic and you wouldn't want to miss your connection due to a slip up.

To the OP .. India now has ETA visa for many countries for tourist visa.. maybe u r citizen of one of these and then process is relatively simple..
