NYC-BOM Suggestions

I am looking to go to India this November. From the NYC area, United and Air India both fly nonstop to Mumbai. I am looking for advice on flying there. I am looking to fly *A for qualifying for next year.

I will be flying in Economy. As a MP Silver, I will be able to get E+ for the flight if I take United. My friend traveling with me will not be able to get it as we will be on separate PNRs. AI has 33" pitch on their 77W which is pretty good for standard economy (UA 772 is 31" for E- and 35" for E+).

Based on this knowledge, would you choose the United nonstop, Air India nonstop, or another *A airline with a stop in Europe?

Would any day prefer AI over United - better food, better seats and usually if not frm JFK but from EWR you may find some seats in Y vacant and if you are lucky enough - can have 3 seats on you for sleeping too.

Also m not sure if you are aware - AI direct to Mumbai would be available from Newark (EWR) where as the one from JFK goes to Mumbai via Delhi.

There are times when AI is cheaper than others: Like AI J priced around SQ Y. Check the dates vs prices, with a prefrence for AI.
