Ai 130/ 131
Hello all,
My family members are planning to travel AI 130/ 131 over the summer. As they are inexperienced fliers (with some needing wheelchair assistance) I am concerned about the domestic to int'l connections and hence have discouraged them to fly via BOM in the past. However ticket prices and itinerary mean AI is the best option, and I have been told for these flights they won't need to switch from domestic to int'l terminal and vice-versa at BOM. Is this true? What would they be expected to do at BOM, both ways? Where would they clear immigration/ customs - at AMD or BOM? At AMD would they need to go to the int'l terminal or domestic? Strangely enough the flight number is staying the same but looks like there is an equipment change at BOM. That's just confusing me even more. Why not just have different flight numbers! Any insight you can provide in terms of the points above, and generally what to expect at BOM would be greatly appreciated. My experiences of BOM are slightly outdated (early/ mid-2000's). Many thanks. |
You arrive in BOM and stay airside on the international terminal, and depart to AMD on a different aircraft. In AMD you go thru immigration and customs. Same procedure on the way back, very hassle free.

Do utilise the option of through check-in. This flight is relatively trouble-free just a change of aircraft at BOM, no other drama what-so-ever.

Belated thanks to all, very helpful.

It's like taking an international - international connection anywhere in the world - you clear customs and immigration at AMD and then BOM is like an intl transit point, same on the return - AI is the only airline to offer this benefit being a GOI owned entity.
