Baggage allowance on AI for Aeroplan redemption

Cross posting here - I also asked on aeroplan forum

I would appreciate if someone can tell me if the baggage allowance shown here (3 bags) for Aeroplan redemption on AI domestic economy BOM-IDR is correct? It seems too good to be true but I will take it . To be noted that - it clearly specifies carry on rules of operating airline will apply but nothing for checked baggage. Am I setting myself up for last minute at airport shock??

Thanks!

I'm not sure why they're showing such a huge amount. AI baggage allowance is 25kgs (can be across multiple pieces) and the same should apply to any award ticket from Aeroplan. *G status would get you an additional 20kgs.

Thanks for your reply - Yes it is a bit misleading for North America based flyers. I would rather book Indigo and take advantage of special rates for international connecting passengers.

Depending on how much luggage you're carrying AI might turn out to be a cheaper option.

The final ticket issued by AC will show the baggage allowance. The AI agent at checkin will see that and allow it.

AI domestic baggage allowance is 25 KG. If you are Star Gold you get an extra 20 kg . If your ticket is a through ticket with no stopover then the Gold 3 piece concept applies.

How does AC's Gold benefits apply here? From OP's screenshot it looks like he's just buying a AI BOM-IDR ticket.

I went ahead and booked to get a definitive answer. AC shows final bag allowance of 25 kg as expected.

Unfortunately no Start alliance status - I have One world status that doesn't help with no domestic partners in India

off topic - If I keep this reservation, is it too close to transfer arriving on AY 125 from HEL that usually lands around 5 am? (separate tickets, immigration, baggage recheck etc.)

Depends on when your BOM-IDR flight is.

Any AI domestic ticket will provide star Gold benefits like check in at business counter, extra baggage allowance, lounge invite etc irrespective of the ticket class and how purchased.

Very unlikely since you can expect queues at immigration, transfer and domestic check-in.

Of course *G benefits would apply from check-in onward, but it wouldn't show while purchasing a ticket - like the 3 free bags that was showing up for OP.

The 3 free bags that OP was seeing while purchasing a ticket would/should only show up for Aeroplan elite on AC metal. I suspect OP is a 35k *S elite. So that baggage allowance incorrectly shows up when purchasing tickets on other *A airlines.
